Hi, my name is Graham Paff and I’m the creator of “The Word-of-Mouth Directory”. I’ve been in business for over 20 years, having run a number of small to medium size companies very successfully.

When I created my very first business 20 years ago (Lakeside Remedial Massage), I did everything that the business marketing masters taught. Basically they told me to “Advertise, Advertise, Advertise” which I did and, in so doing, wasted a LOT of money on the wrong type of advertising as there was know where customers could go to refer a business like (wordofmouthdirectory.com.au) as most of my business came from word of mouth referrals.

I eventually got to the stage where absolutely no advertising was necessary as my repeat referral business kept me more than busy. However, after some three years of going flat out, burnout was becoming quite evident and affecting every area of my life. So I decided to close that chapter of my life and take what I’d learned from the “University of Life”, and move on!

After a few different jobs and a fair bit of soul searching I decided to set up a small bus business, which is now a large bus business (many of you may have heard the “Happy Cabby” jingle on the radio).

During the first five years of running Happy Cabby I relied solely on word of mouth advertising and built my fleet to six busses if (wordofmouthdirctory.com.au) was around at that time I wouldn’t have had to work the long hours and experience as much stress to be successful, Then after the wildly popular jingle came out in the Newcastle area the business grew even faster. The more people who engaged our services the more referrals we got, and from a wider and wider area.

What has stuck with me from day one is that “Word-Of-Mouth” referrals work!

And that’s been the catalyst for this website.

Oh, and one last but very important point… Along this journey I’ve had quite exceptional support. My co-workers have been amazing and one person in particular who has been with me since day one is my wife Lynn.

With her loving support she’s made everything possible for me to be where I am today!
